What you're looking at

This map was never published as a single piece. It existed only as dozens of separate hand-drawn survey sheets in public archives. I tracked down the original scans, worked out where every sheet belonged from street names and block numbers, and aligned them along the street grid until downtown came back together as one seamless picture — at the full detail of the originals.

Nothing is redrawn or "restored." The foxing, the pencil corrections, the century of wear — that's the real map.

Size & framing

Two sizes, both in the same slim gold metal frame, glazed and ready to hang:

27 × 40 (large) — the map fills the full 27 × 40 sheet, edge to edge. Add the white mat and the visible image becomes about 23.5 × 35.5.

22 × 28 (small) — the same map at a tighter crop on the downtown blocks, filling the full 22 × 28 sheet. With the white mat the visible image is about 18 × 24.

Either way it arrives finished — hang it horizontal or turn it 90° and hang it tall.

Paper & printing

Printed on [archival matte paper] with [pigment inks] rated for [XX+] years. The scan resolution holds the original hand lettering legible at full size — that was the whole point.

Delivery

Each map is finished within a few days of your order.

On Galveston Island, I bring it to you myself, or you're welcome to collect it downtown at 22nd and Postoffice — both at no charge. Choose Local delivery or Pickup at checkout and I'll be in touch to arrange a time.

Elsewhere in the United States it travels flat and insured by USPS; the rate for your address is shown at checkout.

If it arrives with so much as a scratch, I'll replace it. Returns within [30] days.

Judge it yourself

The detail, up close.

Two live windows into the original survey sheets, at the full resolution of the archive scans — drag around and read the names. The full reconstructed map, at full sharpness, only exists on paper.
